I greatly enjoyed completing the drawing of Brian Plaskett who retired in August 2004. He was liked by all who worked with him at Nottingham City Council and is very much missed.
The drawing shows his old colleagues from the council’s Highways Team as he prepares himself for long days of retirement at his much loved caravan.
I wish him all the best. |

Captain Pug-Washy
I had the recent honour of drawing one of my work colleagues at Nottingham City Council who retired in April 2006. John Washbrook worked in the Drainage Team for many years and will se sorely missed. The theme of the drawing depicts the retired engineer who wants to buy a narrow boat. Everything else about John’s life is embroiled within this A3 picture. Very busy indeed…!
I used to have lots of discussions about the great cartoonists of our time and we both shared the same likes and dislikes. We could talk for ages about art too, and then every now and again, we’d do some work. Only kidding, John….!
Happy Retirement, Washy.
