The drawing of David Beckham took 19 hours to finish and was drawn in the excitement of the qualifying rounds for the World Cup of 2002. The manager for England, Sven Goran Eriksson, had labelled Becks as his Cultural Architect on the field of play. David certainly rose to the challenge and the team qualified much to the delight of the fans.

This is my tribute to the great player!

This piece of artwork I call a test, I can tell you! I was commissioned by my colleague, John Hardy, to draw German & English trains. John gave me many photos to work with and he even went back to take more for the perspective I was after.

The drawing consists of approximately 300,000 dots and took well over 100 hours to ink in, the main pencil  drawing taking about 7 hours.

John was very pleased with the finished drawing which was complemented by a very good frame and mount. It now stands pride of place in his study.

I particularly enjoyed the drawing of Jake, my very energetic nephew, he wears me out! Here is a moment when he was actually still.

He’s a great kid and very sharp indeed. I will be completing a similar portrait of my other nephew in Bristol soon so look out for that one!
